Why A Survey Collaborative?
In the summer of 2019, VEAC surveyed representatives across the 36 Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) in Virginia to identify ways in which programs can collaborate on CAEP Standard 4.
Building on several institutions’ previous collaborations and feedback from EPPs, VEAC chose to develop a unified process for surveying program completers and their employers.
-
Central to understanding the quality of an Educator Preparation Program is to assess program completers in the field as they apply their acquired knowledge and skills. The perspectives of their preparation help programs address CAEP R4.2 and R4.3.
-
The Virginia Education Assessment Collaborative utilizes a common, standardized survey of program completers and their employers using the language and concepts of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Uniform Performance Standards.
Principals across the Commonwealth have a single standardized process for providing feedback to Virginia EPPs. A standardized timeline also ensures that principals are not overwhelmed throughout the year with 36 unique surveys.
Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs) can review their survey results in the context of benchmarks and trends from other Virginia EPPs.
-
VEAC surveys the completers and employers of initial and advanced licensure of partner Educator Preparation Providers in the Commonwealth. EPP partners provide contact lists to the University of Virginia which in turn surveys and reports data back to EPP partners.
-
Each Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) owns their respective VEAC data. The University of Virginia keeps a repository of responses for aggregate reporting.
-
At this time, researchers cannot have access to VEAC response data. VEAC data are used exclusively for assessment, accreditation, and program improvement processes.
