Frequently Asked Questions

How does my Institution get involved in VEAC?

Please contact Adrienne Sullivan to get involved in the 2021-2022 cycle of the VEAC completer and employer surveys. VEAC is currently contacting EPP representatives with deadlines for this cycle.

Why does the VEAC survey come from a University of Virginia link?

Data collection for VEAC is centralized at the University of Virginia. However, row-level-data are shared only with the institution at which the candidate completed, and identifying information is stripped. VEAC provides benchmarks to institutions through the centralized process and is only intended for assessment purposes.

How has COVID-19 impacted data collection for VEAC Pilot Members?

For the 2020-2021 Cycle, VEAC’s steering committee will monitor EPP and division needs across the state into early Spring 2021.

I’m a respondent to a VEAC survey, how do I know my responses will be sent to the correct institution?

VEAC works with partnering institutions to securely collect and disseminate data to institutions for assessment purposes. Data are stripped of identifying information and are only reported in the aggregate.

Are these CAEP surveys Valid and Reliable?

The VEAC employer and completer surveys are built to follow protocol for surveys as found in the CAEP EVALUATION FRAMEWORK FOR EPP-CREATED ASSESSMENTS. The surveys have been reviewed by VEAC partners and several institution’s advisory boards for feedback. Items are tagged to both the Virginia Uniform Performance Standards and the InTASC standards.

When will VEAC begin collecting data for CAEP 4.1 and 4.2?

VEAC plans to pilot data collection efforts in 2020-2021 with partnership divisions. If you are a division interested in partnering in helping education preparation programs collecting data on first and second-year teachers in your schools, please contact Adrienne Sullivan.

Will VEAC pilot a survey for Advanced Programs in Virginia?

VEAC is looking to expand! If your institution is willing to pilot an advanced program survey for CAEP A4.1 or A4.2, please contact Adrienne Sullivan.
